Behind-the-scenes of the Manta Trust film collaboration with Carl F Bucherer
We’re proud to have partnered with The Manta Trust and luxury Swiss watch manufacturer, Carl F. Bucherer (CFB), for the filming of “How to Swim with Manta Rays” – an educational Manta Tourism Code of Conduct film shot in Raa Atoll this March.
Available in English, Mandarin and Spanish, the film will be available for use by tour operators and resorts around the world who offers guests manta swimming experiences – as well as of course during our own Manta On Call and manta snorkelling activities.
You can check out all the behind-the-scenes content from the exciting week-long shoot here; we’re pleased to report that the manta rays were all very co-operative during the making of the film and are looking forward to helping spread the word of safe codes of conduct when interacting with their international cousins!
Four Seasons Resorts Maldives has been a supporter of The Manta Trust since its inception, with the charity’s founding project – The Maldivian Manta Ray Project – beginning life at Landaa Giraavaru back in 2006. It has been a real joy watching The Manta Trust grow into the world’s leading manta ray charity and fantastic to see the support of organisations like CFB, who – in addition to supporting the manta film – have also released a limited edition line of Manta Trust dive watches: 188 beautiful timepieces, each featuring an engraving of a different manta ray from the Maldivian Manta Ray Project’s database including the ID code, and the manta’s unique spot pattern.
With proceeds from sales of these dive watches being used to finance an entire research project and scientific expedition this August, the Maldivian Manta Team will soon have an even greater awareness of exactly what kind of plankton manta’s love to eat, why they like it so much, and ultimately how this might be impacted due to climate change.
Contact the Resort at Reservations.Mal@fourseasons.com or call +960 66 00 888 to get your hands on one of the beautiful CFB watches: don’t hesitate, they won’t be around for long!
